Job Description
The Old Mutual Chartered Accounting Training Programme (OMCAT) offers final-year CTA/PGDA students the opportunity to launch their careers in accounting through a well-rounded training experience. Key Result Areas & Competencies
As part of the OMCAT programme, you will be expected to achieve certain key results and competencies during your training:
Technical Competencies:
The technical competencies will align with the SAICA requirements for the CA of the Future framework. These competencies ensure that you gain broad financial knowledge and technical proficiency across various areas of accounting and finance.Professional & Leadership Skills:
In addition to technical training, Old Mutual places a strong emphasis on professional and leadership development. As a trainee, you will participate in leadership development initiatives to help you cultivate the soft skills necessary to become an effective business leader. Courses will cover communication, critical thinking, decision-making, teamwork, and leadership.Practical Experience:
You will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects that give you exposure to the various challenges and complexities within the financial services industry. Your experience will cover the full spectrum of finance functions and enable you to develop a well-rounded skill set.
Requirements: Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
To qualify for the Old Mutual CA Training Programme, you must meet the following criteria:
- Proof of registration or successful completion of your PGDA/CTA (Post-graduate Diploma in Accounting or Certificate in the Theory of Accounting).
- Be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID.
- Strong detail orientation with the ability to balance meticulous attention to detail while seeing the “big picture.”
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with colleagues, mentors, and senior leadership.
- High levels of energy, drive, creativity, and innovation to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- A self-starter attitude with a proactive approach to taking initiative and solving problems.
- Commitment to leadership development and a willingness to engage in activities and courses designed to foster leadership skills.
