An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Checker II to join the Safripol Tulisa Park team. The Checker II is tasked with assisting in the efficient handling of goods, including assembling, packing, unpacking, weighing, stacking, loading, unloading, marking, and addressing of goods or containers. The role also involves checking, entering, and recording the particulars of goods and containers manually or via an electronic system. This intermediate-level position involves more complex tasks and greater responsibilities compared to a Checker I, requiring attention to detail, quality control expertise, and a strong focus on accuracy in managing the movement of goods.

Checkers at this level are often responsible for quality control, ensuring that goods meet required standards, and handling tasks in a more complex and high-paced environment. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience with warehouse management systems, a solid understanding of stock control, and the ability to handle record-keeping and administrative tasks. The role requires someone who is meticulous, organized, and able to work well under pressure.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Educational Requirements:
    • Minimum qualification: Matric / NQF Level 4 qualification.
  • Experience:
    • Demonstrable experience in warehouse management systems is essential, providing the ability to work within the company's structured warehouse system for goods tracking and management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Stock Control:
    Ensure that stock levels are accurately monitored and controlled. The candidate will be responsible for verifying quantities, ensuring goods are stored in the correct locations, and conducting regular stock checks.

  • Dispatch Operations:
    Handle the dispatch process, ensuring that goods are correctly loaded and delivered according to schedule. This involves coordinating with drivers and ensuring that delivery documents are correctly completed and filed.

  • Record Keeping and Administration:
    Maintain thorough and accurate records of all stock movements, including entries and exits. Proper documentation is critical for ensuring that goods are tracked at all times and that there is full accountability for the items being handled.

  • System Administration:
    Ensure that all stock data is correctly inputted into the warehouse management system. The role involves updating inventory systems, tracking incoming and outgoing goods, and ensuring data integrity within electronic systems.

  • Pre-Loading Inspections:
    Conduct pre-loading inspections of vehicles to ensure they meet cleanliness standards, and that slides are properly closed before loading commences. This is critical for ensuring the safe and secure transportation of goods.

  • Loading and Sealing:
    Supervise the loading process, ensuring that goods are properly loaded onto vehicles in accordance with safety protocols. Once loading is completed, oversee the sealing of the load to ensure no tampering occurs during transit.

  • Axle Weighing and Legal Compliance:
    Weigh vehicle axles to ensure they are within legal limits, preventing overloading and ensuring compliance with road regulations. Reporting any discrepancies and taking corrective action is vital for the safe operation of the vehicles.

  • General Tasks and Housekeeping:
    Perform general housekeeping duties, ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the weighbridge and loading areas. Maintaining a clean and safe working environment is critical for operational efficiency.

  • Bin Stock Documentation:
    Accurately complete and maintain bin stock documentation to reflect the correct levels of stock in each bin. This involves regularly updating records and ensuring that physical stock matches documented quantities.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Health and Safety Compliance:
    Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring that all tasks are performed in line with the company’s safety policies. This includes participating in safety briefings and ensuring the proper use of protective gear when necessary.

  • Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement:
    Identify areas of improvement within the stock control and loading process and suggest ways to enhance efficiency and reduce operational risks. A Checker II is expected to be proactive in problem-solving and contribute to streamlining operations.

  • Team Collaboration:
    Work closely with other team members, including warehouse staff, drivers, and supervisors, to ensure smooth operations. The role requires strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate efforts and achieve operational goals.

  • Reporting and Feedback:
    Report any discrepancies or operational challenges to the supervisor. Provide regular feedback on stock levels, dispatch operations, and other aspects of warehouse management. This helps in maintaining transparency and ensuring any issues are quickly addressed.
