Job Description:
Midas is seeking a dedicated General Worker to join our branch in Edenvale. The General Worker will be responsible for various warehouse duties such as stock taking, binning, picking, packing, and ensuring the warehouse is clean and orderly. This role is essential in maintaining efficient warehouse operations and ensuring that inventory is properly managed.
Specific Role Responsibilities:
Key Performance Indicators include, but are not limited to:
Binning:
- Ensure the proper binning of incoming merchandise and replenishment of inventory from bulk to pick locations, following the standard operating procedures.
- Ensure new products are assigned bin location numbers in the correct warehouse area.
- Report updated bin locations and new allocations to your supervisor for system updates.
- Assist in replenishing inventory and ensure incoming goods are received and checked according to company standards.
Picking:
- Ensure timely picking of customer and branch orders to meet order cut-off times.
- Picking from bulk locations should only occur when stock is depleted and replenishment hasn't been completed or when picking bulk orders to prevent breakage of pack sizes.
- Follow all instructions provided by your superior to increase customer satisfaction and efficiency.
- Assist in stock-taking procedures and ensure daily housekeeping is maintained.
- Perform double checks to prevent inventory loss and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Consistently meet set operational targets.
Scanner Control:
- Issue scanners to all operators on a daily basis and book them out through the electronic app.
- Receive scanners back from operators, inspect for damage, and book them back into stock via the electronic app.
- Report any damage to the supervisor and maintain a daily scanner issue spreadsheet.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Educational Requirements: Grade 12 certificate or equivalent in Literacy and Numeracy.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a warehouse and/or logistics environment is desirable.
- Product Knowledge: Experience with spares, motor, or engine parts, as well as warehouse systems and procedures, is an advantage.
Skills and Personal Attributes:
- Must be efficient, accurate, and focused, with attention to detail.
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills are required to manage stock accurately.
- Self-motivated and willing to go the extra mile to contribute to the team’s success.
- Must be a team player with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively.
- Physically fit to handle warehouse tasks that involve lifting and moving stock.
- Demonstrates honesty and integrity in all aspects of work.
