Job Description:
Alert Engine Parts is seeking a dedicated General Worker to join our branch in George. The General Worker will play an essential role in maintaining the smooth operation of the warehouse by performing tasks such as stock taking, binning, picking, packing, checking, moving stock, and ensuring the warehouse is always clean and organized.

Specific Role Responsibilities:

Key Performance Indicators include, but are not limited to:

  1. Binning:

    • Ensure that incoming merchandise is binned accurately and that inventory is replenished from bulk to pick locations in accordance with standard operating procedures.
    • Allocate new products with appropriate bin location numbers in the correct areas of the warehouse.
    • Update bin locations and ensure stock allocations are reported to your supervisor for system updates.
    • Assist with inventory replenishment and ensure that incoming goods are received and checked per company standards.
  2. Picking:

    • Ensure that customer and branch orders are picked in a timely manner to meet order cut-off times.
    • Only pick from bulk locations when stock is depleted and not replenished, or when handling bulk orders to prevent breaking pack sizes.
    • Carry out all lawful instructions given by your supervisor to improve customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
    • Assist in stock-taking procedures and ensure daily housekeeping is done.
    • Perform double checks to prevent inventory loss and maintain high customer satisfaction levels.
    • Consistently achieve set operational targets.
  3. Scanner Control:

    • Issue scanners to operators daily and record their use on the electronic app.
    • Inspect scanners for damage when returned and book them back into stock via the app.
    • Report any scanner damage to the supervisor and maintain the daily scanner issue spreadsheet.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Educational Requirements: Grade 12 certificate or equivalent literacy and numeracy qualification.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a warehouse or logistics environment is desirable.
  • Product Knowledge: Knowledge of spares, motor, or engine parts, as well as familiarity with warehouse systems and procedures, will be an advantage.

  • Must be efficient, accurate, and focused, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills are essential for stock management.
  • Self-motivated and willing to go the extra mile to ensure team success.
  • Must be a team player with good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Physically fit to perform warehouse tasks such as lifting and moving stock.
  • Demonstrates honesty and integrity in all aspects of work.
