Main Responsibilities

  • Support customer service at the point of sale while ensuring a world-class shopping experience.
  • Record customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system following company policies and procedures.

  • Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and establish professional relationships with customers.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 / Matric
  • Experience: Minimum 6 months cashier/till operations experience
  • Skills:
    • Computer literate (MS Office)
    • Good numerical skills
    • Strong command of the English language
    • Basic customer service skills
  • Special Conditions:
    • Willing and able to work retail hours
    • Must have reliable transport or live close to the store
    • Clear credit and criminal records

  • To accurately record customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system, following company policies and procedures to eliminate inaccuracies and reduce fraud risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with customers.
  • Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management.
  • Maintain awareness of current sales and promotions, and ensure colleagues and customers are not exposed to risks.
  • Carry out Dis-Chem's 5-star communication principles.
  • Handle cash flow responsibly, ensuring all voids and price changes are approved.
  • Process various payment methods (cash, cards, vouchers, etc.) and loyalty cards.
  • Place cash in the drop safe as per standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Keep passwords secure and ensure all outgoing stock is properly scanned and paid for.
  • Report any suspicious behavior and address customer queries related to store merchandise.

To support customer service at the point of sale while ensuring a world-class shopping experience. Responsible for accurately recording customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system following company policies, with a focus on eliminating inaccuracies and minimizing fraud risk.


Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers.
  • Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management.
  • Ensure compliance with the customer turnover hourly rate.
  • Stay updated on current sales and promotions.
  • Ensure the safety of colleagues and customers by adhering to risk protocols.
  • Implement and manage Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles.
  • Handle cash flow responsibly and ensure all voids and price changes are approved.
  • Accept and process all payments (cash, bank cards, vouchers, etc.) and loyalty cards.
  • Ensure that cash is placed in the drop safe following SOPs.
  • Keep password and code secure, and ensure all outgoing stock is scanned and paid for.
  • Safeguard all money in the till and discuss daily takings only with management.
  • Be vigilant and report suspicious behavior to management.
  • Address customer queries related to store merchandise.
  • Comply with Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures.
