Purpose of the Position:
The Child, Adolescent, and Youth Health Promoter will coordinate health promotion services to empower children, adolescents, and youth to adopt healthy lifestyles. This role involves educating these groups to take control of their health and implementing policies aimed at reducing risks for life-threatening diseases.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Matric
  • Age: 20–35 years
  • 10-day HIV counselling and finger prick compliance
  • Health promotion qualification (advantageous)
  • Knowledge of NSP, GBVF NSP, OSS
  • Valid code 8 driver’s license

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement the district child, adolescent, and youth health promotion plan
  • Compile monthly and quarterly reports for submission
  • Attend monthly Health Promotion Programme meetings
  • Maintain records for the Health Promotion and Youth Programme
  • Assess health literacy needs and address them accordingly
  • Develop, test, and translate educational materials for health promotion
  • Implement provincial IEC campaigns, especially targeting children and adolescents
  • Facilitate in-service training for health promotion in the district
  • Organise skills development programmes for healthcare workers
  • Conduct orientation for new Health Promotion Practitioners (HPPs) and youth peer mentors
  • Advocate for health promotion in schools and other relevant settings
  • Develop and implement a health promotion plan aligned with KZN’s strategy
  • Mobilize resources and support efforts for specific health issues
  • Participate in relevant meetings, teams, and forums
