Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Hygiene & Cleanliness: Ensure compliance with company and statutory regulations concerning cleanliness and hygiene in all tasks.
  • Customer Service: Deliver high levels of customer service, ensuring that all customer expectations are met within the provisions of the contract.
  • Food Preparation: Assist cooks and chefs with the preparation of meals, with a focus on salads and desserts. Place entrees, salads, desserts, and other food items on the serving line.
  • Stock Control: Keep the serving line well-stocked and clean, ensuring that food areas and canteen tables are tidy and orderly.
  • Training & Assistance: May assist in training new employees and storing/recording leftover food.
  • Customer Interaction: Respond to customer and client feedback, reporting and acting on complaints or compliments where possible.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, ensuring smooth handovers by counting and signing over stock to the next shift when applicable.
  • Additional Tasks: Carry out reasonable requests from management and attend meetings and training courses as required.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Practical Work: Enjoy practical and methodical tasks.
  • Reliability & Honesty: Must be reliable, honest, and committed to high standards of personal hygiene.
  • Physical Stamina: Able to stand, bend, lift, and work for extended periods, with stamina to work 45-50 hours per week.
  • Attention to Detail: Must be observant and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and canteen areas.
  • Teamwork: Able to work well in a team, with good communication skills.
  • Safety & Speed: Work efficiently while maintaining safety in a fast-paced environment.
  • Allergy-Free: Must not have skin allergies to food or detergents.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have completed at least a National Senior Certificate (matric).
