Job Purpose:
The Shipping Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and accurate placement and shipping of all import orders for the Clicks Group. The focus is on meeting shipment deadlines and reducing costs, while also ensuring full compliance with all legislative and customs requirements. This role involves close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that all processes from purchase orders to supplier payments run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify that charges from third-party logistics providers (3PL) for Child Purchase Orders are accurate and align with contracted rates.
- Coordinate with the Treasury team when foreign exchange is unavailable for specific Child Purchase Orders.
- Complete Actual Landed Costs calculations within the agreed timelines, ensuring no delays in the distribution center (DC) receiving process.
- Work closely with Clicks Finance, banks (HSBC and Standard Bank), and suppliers to ensure international suppliers are paid promptly.
- Prepare local vendor payments and submit them to Finance for processing.
- Ensure that all relevant documents are uploaded on Tradecloud, facilitating complete and accurate document retrieval for internal, external, or customs audits.
- Resolve any costing or payment queries as they arise.
Minimum Requirements:
Job Knowledge
- Essential: Basic understanding of customs compliance requirements.
- Essential: Basic knowledge of Incoterms 2010.
- Essential: Familiarity with payment terms such as Letters of Credit (L/Cs), Telegraphic Transfers (TTs), and Forward Exchange Contracts (FBCs).
- Desirable: Understanding of retail buying processes.

Job Experience

Education
- Essential: Grade 12 (Matric) certification.
- Desirable: Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Finance.
