Internship Overview:
Join Sasol’s dynamic team as an AI Engineer Intern, where you will engage with advanced AI technologies, machine learning, and data-driven insights. This internship offers hands-on experience in developing AI models, working with innovative AI tools, and contributing to the deployment of AI solutions in real-world environments.
Key Responsibilities:
As an AI Engineer Intern, you will be responsible for:
AI Model Development: Collaborating with data scientists and software engineers to design and fine-tune AI models. Exploring various machine learning algorithms such as supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning.
Data Preparation and Analysis: Collecting, cleaning, and preparing data for AI model development. Conducting exploratory data analysis to inform model development.
Algorithm Implementation: Implementing AI algorithms using Python libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn). Optimizing models for accuracy and performance.
Automation and Deployment: Learning to deploy AI models in cloud environments like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Integrating AI models into production systems.
AI Research and Experimentation: Keeping up with the latest AI advancements and experimenting with new techniques. Contributing to ongoing AI research projects.
Visualization and Reporting: Using data visualization tools to present AI outcomes and insights to stakeholders. Assisting in creating reports that showcase AI's impact on business objectives.
Skills and Competencies:
- Programming: Proficiency in Python and experience with AI libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.
- Machine Learning: Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and techniques.
- Data Processing: Experience in data cleaning, preparation, and feature engineering.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for explaining complex AI concepts.
Preferred Skills (Wish List):
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for AI model deployment.
- Familiarity with big data tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
- Experience with MLOps tools for automating the AI lifecycle.
Education Requirements:
A degree in any of the following disciplines is required:
- Computer Science
- Data Science
- Mathematics
- Statistics
- Engineering
- Artificial Intelligence
- Operations Research
An Honours/MSc/MEng degree will be advantageous.
