Position Overview:
The Bakery Assistant works closely with the Baker to assist in the preparation, baking, and display of bakery products according to recipe specifications. The role focuses on ensuring a quality product, maintaining food safety standards, and providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Preparation:
Follow the recipe manual accurately to select and prepare ingredients in metric units.Merchandising:
Arrange and display bakery products according to set standards, ensuring an attractive presentation and logical flow.Customer Service:
Engage courteously with customers, address inquiries, and support the bakery department to promote sales.Hygiene and Housekeeping:
Use “clean-as-you-go” practices, perform thorough cleaning after production, and ensure all equipment is sanitized and in working order.Safety Compliance:
Follow safe working procedures, report equipment issues to the manager, and maintain knowledge of food safety protocols and bakery legislation.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
Matric (Grade 12)Experience:
6–12 months of experience in a retail or commercial bakery environment
Skills and Competencies:
