Position Overview:
The Butchery Operator will manage resources to ensure compliance with standards and regulations, achieving targets and deadlines. The role requires a team-oriented individual with excellent customer service skills and the ability to work in a cold environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate all butchery equipment, including the bandsaw.
- Handle customer service professionally.
- Manufacture and cut various meat products (e.g., loin chops, roasts) with accuracy.
- Maintain and monitor stock control, merchandising, and product promotions.
- Process and de-bone meat cuts, produce sausages, and other products.
- Follow hygiene and cleanliness standards for all butchery equipment and utensils.
- Check and maintain the cold chain and monitor temperatures.
- Train staff on new products and procedures.
- Ensure minimal wastage, shrinkage, or damages.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Grade 12.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of butchery equipment operation.
- Ability to cut and process meat products (skill will be tested).
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a cold environment.
- Physically capable of lifting meat carcasses and containers.
- Compliance with the medical criteria per the OHS Act for butchery roles.
- Personal Competencies:
- Team player with strong communication skills.
- Sense of urgency and passion for the product.
- Good numeracy skills (screening assessment required).
- Commitment to personal growth and development.
