Overview:
This role involves handling various warehousing and distribution tasks in a fast-paced environment, primarily focused on cosmetics and fragrance products. The Warehouse and Distribution Assistant will be responsible for receiving, storing, and managing stock to support efficient warehouse operations. This includes ensuring that all products are properly packaged, safely stored, and accurately documented for effective inventory management. The role demands close attention to detail, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Stock Verification and Quality Control:
- Check all incoming products to ensure they are sealed, meet quality standards, and have no expired items or leakages.
- Ensure any defective or damaged goods are immediately reported to the line manager.
- Conduct visual checks to confirm that each item meets the organization’s saleable condition requirements.
Bin Replenishment and Stock Rotation:
- Replenish inventory in designated bin locations following stock holding principles (front to back, top to bottom, left to right).
- Restock based on pack sizes, and adhere to the FIFO (First In, First Out) stock rotation method to maintain inventory integrity.
- Organize all replenished products, ensuring they are arranged in a clean, accessible manner.
Inventory Management and Cycle Counts:
- Participate in regular stock cycle counts and assist with inventory stock takes as scheduled by the line manager.
- Keep track of any stock discrepancies and report concerns or potential issues to maintain accurate records.
- Work closely with the team during stock counts to support precise and efficient inventory assessments.
Health and Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all Health & Safety requirements and wear any necessary protective equipment.
- Handle items with care and follow specific handling instructions to avoid product damage.
- Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and free of any waste or damaged stock items, both during and after shifts.
Team Collaboration and SOP Adherence:
- Actively participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Follow warehouse Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistent operational standards.
- Communicate effectively with team members to achieve departmental objectives and foster a cooperative atmosphere.
Customer Service and Housekeeping:
- Prepare orders accurately for dispatch and ensure that they are handled with care.
- Maintain the reception area of the warehouse, keeping it clean and organized for visiting clients or suppliers.
- Support the housekeeping standards of the warehouse by ensuring all areas remain tidy, free from clutter, and organized at all times.
Requirements:
Education: Grade 12 (Matric) qualification is essential.
Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a warehouse setting, particularly in roles involving picking, packing, checking, replenishment, and dispatching of stock.
Technical Skills:
- Basic knowledge of cosmetics and fragrances, including handling and storage requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for stock tracking and documentation.
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and understanding of cycle counts and stock takes.
