Job Purpose

To monitor online, batch, ATMs, SSTs, and tape library functionality across various platforms. The role involves escalating outages, ensuring SLA adherence, and minimising operational disruptions to the bank under supervision.


Job Responsibilities

Technical Skills Required:

  • JCL knowledge.
  • BMC Unix Control M experience.
  • MVS experience.

Key Duties:

  • Monitor and manage online and batch processing to ensure SLAs are met.
  • Perform manual and automated daily checks to ensure back-end online programme functionality.
  • Oversee the Tape Library's daily operations and functionality.
  • Escalate and resolve issues related to online availability, ATMs/SSTs, and distributed environments.
  • Capture and report outages on the Incident Management Tool (ITM).
  • Execute system maintenance tasks (e.g., IPLs) and validate head office files.
  • Provide after-hours client support, including domain password resets and fault logging.
  • Identify and address inefficiencies, promoting process optimisation and multi-skilling within the team.
  • Participate in report preparation and document updates on the daily dashboard.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and risk standards.
  • Liaise with support areas to maintain strong working relationships.

Collaboration and Learning:

  • Share knowledge and participate in a diverse team to ensure team success.
  • Attend formal training and obtain certifications where applicable.
  • Proactively address and mitigate risks while resolving work obstacles.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications:

  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.

Preferred Experience:

  • 1–5 years of IT experience, with at least 3 years in mainframe operations.

Technical/Professional Knowledge

  • Administrative procedures and systems.
  • Data analysis and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Regulatory knowledge relevant to IT operations.
  • Business writing and communication skills.
  • Systems knowledge (e.g., UNIX System Admin, MVS, and UNIX).
