Purpose of the Role
The General Assistant will assist Cooks and Chefs with food production, operate the cash register, serve food, and maintain cleanliness in the canteen and kitchen.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to cleanliness and hygiene regulations.
- Maintain high standards of customer service, health, safety, and food quality.
- Assist in meal preparation, especially salads and desserts.
- Serve food and keep the serving line clean and well-stocked.
- Store and record food leftovers.
- Keep canteen tables, kitchen, and other areas clean and orderly.
- Address customer and client feedback, taking action where necessary.
- Participate in training courses and team meetings.
- Perform related tasks as assigned by management.
Skills and Competencies
- Honest, reliable, and methodical in approach.
- Good hand-eye coordination and communication skills.
- Strong team player with the stamina to work 45-50 hours per week.
- Physically fit and able to bend, stand, and lift.
- Free from food and detergent-related skin allergies.
- Enjoys practical work and ensures good personal hygiene.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Completed a National Senior Certificate.
