Job Overview

The Inventory Controller will be responsible for managing inventory operations to ensure cost-effectiveness, high-quality standards, and optimal stock availability. The role is based in the PPL Department, reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager.


Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management

  • Conduct inventory management in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Monitor depot coverage daily and report stock shortages.
  • Plan appropriate storage locations (ABC Analysis).
  • Conduct daily cycle counts and monthly stock counts.
  • Minimize stock write-offs and losses.
  • Ensure stock rotation and adherence to FIFO principles.

Quality and Compliance

  • Perform routine quality audits and inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with ICC, ISO requirements, and operational standards.
  • Administer product recalls and isolate non-conforming stock.

Stock and Reporting

  • Investigate stock variances and generate variance reports.
  • Reconcile production bookings daily.
  • Compile daily stock packs and submit reports to management.

Customer Service

  • Provide superior service to internal and external customers.
  • Resolve customer complaints promptly.
  • Ensure on-time, in-full (OTIF) deliveries.

Operational Support

  • Monitor stock movements, maintain accurate documentation, and oversee audits.
  • Conduct ad hoc counts for unresolved variances.
  • Manage forklift drivers and evaluate shift performance.
  • Highlight high-risk incidents such as theft, damage, and quality write-offs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education:

    • Matric (Grade 12).
    • NQF 6 qualification in Logistics or equivalent.
  • Experience:

    • At least 2 years of experience in a warehouse environment.
    • Basic knowledge of warehouse/production operations.
  • Skills:

    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SAP.

  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze trends and perform root cause analysis.
  • Effective communication and team management skills.
