Job Overview

Aurum is seeking a Lay Counsellor to provide HIV/AIDS testing, counselling, and psychosocial support. The role also includes adherence support for patients on ART, TB treatment, and prevention programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct HIV Testing and Counselling (HTC), including couples counselling.
  • Link diagnosed patients to HIV care and treatment.
  • Provide adherence counselling for:
    • ART initiation and continued treatment.
    • Drug-sensitive and multi-drug resistant TB treatment.
    • TB prevention and contact tracing.
    • Pregnant and breastfeeding women.
  • Support paediatric and adolescent disclosure counselling.
  • Facilitate community-supported ART delivery.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and make recommendations.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • HIV/AIDS Counselling and Testing Certificate

Advantageous:

  • Relationship Counselling Certificate
  • Trauma Counselling Certificate

Experience:

  • 2 years’ experience in HIV testing and counselling.
  • 2 years’ experience in HIV and TB community education and mobilisation.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • Own Vehicle
