Stores Assistant – Boksburg, Johannesburg

Job Purpose

The Stores Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean, organised warehouse while ensuring compliance with company Health & Safety policies. The role involves monitoring stock movement, reporting issues, and assisting in stock management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the warehouse.
  • Monitor incoming stock, stock issued, and order fulfilment.
  • Ensure stock is issued only against approved RMOs.
  • Communicate with Production and Store Manager regarding stock shortages or non-issued items.
  • Organise inventory following FIFO/FEFO principles.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts.
  • Follow stock replenishment procedures and notify management of shortages.
  • Monitor and report temperature deviations in storage areas.
  • Report damages, leakages, pest infestations, and hygiene concerns.
  • Maintain and manage the bin card system.
  • Identify and flag stock nearing expiration.
  • Prepare daily wastage reports for the Stores Supervisor.
  • Ensure daily stock count accuracy for Buyers.
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience.

Skills Required

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Organisational abilities.
  • Ability to follow job and safety instructions.

Key Competencies

  • Ability to deliver relevant information to appropriate personnel.
  • Ability to report non-conformities effectively.
  • Physical fitness to handle warehouse tasks.
