Job Description
We are recruiting a General Assistant to support our Cooks and Chefs in food preparation, operate the cash register, serve food, and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and canteen.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with cleanliness and hygiene standards in all tasks.
- Assist in meal preparation, especially salads and desserts.
- Manage food placement on the serving line, ensuring cleanliness and stock levels.
- Help train new employees as needed.
- Store and record food leftovers appropriately.
- Keep canteen tables, kitchen, and other areas clean and orderly.
- Maintain customer service standards in accordance with company expectations.
- Ensure stock is properly counted and signed over to the next shift staff.
- Handle customer complaints or compliments as they arise.
- Attend relevant meetings and training sessions.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
Skills and Competencies
- Enjoy practical and methodical work.
- Honest, reliable, and possess good hand-eye coordination.
- Able to work quickly and safely.
- Maintain good personal hygiene and be free from skin allergies to foods and detergents.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Stamina to work 45-50 hours per week.
- Capable of bending, standing, and lifting as necessary.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- National Senior Certificate (Matric) required.
