Job Description
A General Assistant is required to provide excellent customer service, ensure proper merchandising of stock, maintain housekeeping standards, and support store operations.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 (NQF 3) and 1 year of related work experience OR
- Grade 12 without work experience
- Fluent in English and the dominant language of the area
- Valid South African ID or work permit
- Basic calculation skills
- Availability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Ability to work under pressure
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Assist and advise customers on products
- Resolve customer complaints and escalate when necessary
Merchandising & Housekeeping
- Ensure stock is merchandised safely according to store layout
- Keep aisles clear and safe for customers and staff
- Maintain correct shelf price labelling
- Follow hygiene and safety checklists for canteen and restrooms
Safety & Stock Management
- Follow Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations
- Report any stock damage to the Store Manager
- Ensure safe stock merchandising in bulk and racking areas
