Role Purpose

To assist patients with admissions and discharges professionally while ensuring compliance with policies to mitigate financial and operational risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process admissions and bookings according to procedure
  • Identify and prevent financial risks
  • Ensure a smooth discharge process
  • Maintain patient confidentiality

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Essential: Grade 12 or equivalent

Experience:

  • Essential: None
  • Desired: Reception administration experience, especially in private healthcare

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Patient admission and discharge procedures
  • Debtpack Enquiry application (blacklisted patient checks)
  • Hospital switchboard systems
  • Knowledge of ICD and CPT codes
  • Medical Aid Schemes and Workmen’s Compensation Act (WCA) processes
  • Identifying financial risks (e.g., handling patient valuables, flagged patients)
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, AS400 system)
  • Emergency protocol (fire, flood, robbery)
