Role Purpose
To assist patients with admissions and discharges professionally while ensuring compliance with policies to mitigate financial and operational risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Process admissions and bookings according to procedure
- Identify and prevent financial risks
- Ensure a smooth discharge process
- Maintain patient confidentiality
Minimum Requirements
Education:
- Essential: Grade 12 or equivalent
Experience:
- Essential: None
- Desired: Reception administration experience, especially in private healthcare
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Patient admission and discharge procedures
- Debtpack Enquiry application (blacklisted patient checks)
- Hospital switchboard systems
- Knowledge of ICD and CPT codes
- Medical Aid Schemes and Workmen’s Compensation Act (WCA) processes
- Identifying financial risks (e.g., handling patient valuables, flagged patients)
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, AS400 system)
- Emergency protocol (fire, flood, robbery)
