Job Overview

Unitrans is looking for a Payroll Administrator to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate and efficient payroll processing, ensuring compliance with company policies, labour legislation, and audit requirements. This role involves supporting HR, Operations, and the Head Office Payroll Team while handling statutory returns and reconciliations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4
  • Up to 5 years’ experience in payroll administration
  • Sage People experience
  • Strong payroll principles, computer skills, and payroll system knowledge
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
  • Attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills
  • Knowledge of labour legislation and statutory requirements
  • Understanding of National Bargaining Council Collective Agreement for the Road Freight Industry (advantageous)
  • Ability to coordinate and control information from multiple regions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full Payroll Function: Process, verify, and reconcile payroll data
  • Salary & Wage Payments: Ensure accurate weekly and monthly payments
  • Third-Party Payments: Reconciliation and processing of deductions
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Prepare and review salary variances
  • Audit Compliance: Assist with internal and external audit preparations
  • Leave & Payroll Reconciliations: Ensure alignment between National Bargaining Council leave records and Sage Payroll
