Job Description

The Perinaise Cooker is responsible for monitoring cooking temperature and time to ensure that products are cooked correctly. The role requires following product specifications on the Scada system and maintaining safety and quality standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric or equivalent qualification
  • Advantageous: N3 or N4 Technical Trade Qualification
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in manufacturing
  • Experience working in the food industry as a cooker
  • Understanding of lean principles
  • Exposure to food manufacturing environment and World Class Manufacturing techniques

Key Responsibilities

Safety and Quality

  • Follow Nando’s Feitoria safety rules and policies
  • Wear safety equipment and PPE
  • Report unsafe behaviour or hazards
  • Ensure product quality meets specifications
  • Maintain accurate production records in Shopware
  • Comply with zero harm and zero alcohol tolerance policies
  • Handle hot products and surfaces safely
  • Submit samples to the QA Lab for analysis

Operations & Equipment Usage

  • Follow daily production instructions from the team leader
  • Maintain a clean and dry work area
  • Verify that ingredient weights match the recipe
  • Operate Scada system for automated cooking
  • Ensure correct temperature and time settings
  • Label steritainers with product details
  • Notify the Sanitation Officer for cleaning after production
  • Report downtime and production issues in Shopware
  • Meet safety, quality, and production targets

Additional Responsibilities

  • Verify and send tools/parts for maintenance
  • Participate in inventory control activities (cycle counts, stock takes)
  • Support Nando’s Feitoria Operational Excellence initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Be prepared to work overtime when required
