We are seeking a skilled Reach Truck Operator to join our team in Bellville, Cape Town. In this role, you will operate a reach truck to efficiently move, locate, relocate, and stack pallets within our warehouse, ensuring safe operations and adherence to warehouse procedures while maintaining the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Reach Truck Operations:

• Safely operate reach trucks to load and unload materials from warehouse racking.
• Navigate the cold storage environment to transport goods to designated areas.
• Handle fruit pallets with care to prevent damage and preserve quality.
• Identify and report damages, shortages, or quality issues to the supervisor team.
• Support inventory tracking by scanning and recording pallet movements using warehouse management systems (WMS).

Quality Control & Compliance:

• Adhere to health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Conduct daily reach truck inspections and report mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards in the warehouse.
• Ensure cold storage doors remain closed when not in use to preserve temperature integrity.

Team Collaboration:

• Work closely with warehouse staff, quality control teams, and drivers to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
• Assist with general warehouse duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Reach Truck Certification.

Experience:

• 1-5 years of reach truck operating experience, ideally in a cold storage environment.
• Previous experience in the fruit export industry is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

• Proven ability to operate a reach truck in a warehouse setting.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple tasks.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or scanners.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Clear communication skills to ensure a safe working environment.
• Ability to follow instructions precisely and promptly.
• Basic math skills for inventory management.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and peripheral vision.
• A proactive individual with strong time management skills.
