Key Responsibilities

Support Lead Mechanics:

Assist lead mechanics by providing direct support on repair and maintenance projects.
Work under supervision on assigned tasks or ensure lead mechanics have quick access to tools, parts, and materials needed to complete their work.
Gain hands-on experience and familiarity with shop processes and practices over time.

Repair and Replace Automotive Parts:

Perform repairs and replacements on truck parts, such as basic components, under guidance.
Assist with more complex tasks, like swapping engine components or transmissions, when supervised by lead mechanics.
Ensure accuracy and care when handling automotive parts to maintain vehicle functionality.

Support Shop Cleanliness and Safety:

Maintain a tidy and organized workspace by cleaning work areas and removing hazardous materials (e.g., oil, gasoline, or other fluids).
Follow established procedures for the safe disposal of motor oil, tires, and vehicle fluids.
Conduct regular checks of equipment and work areas to eliminate clutter and hazards, such as broken glass, ensuring a safe environment for all staff.

Skills & Competencies

Willingness to learn and follow instructions from lead mechanics.
Basic understanding of automotive parts and repair processes (advanced knowledge is a plus).
Ability to handle tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe workspace.
Physical ability to lift parts, stand for extended periods, and perform manual tasks.
Team player with a proactive and reliable attitude.

Qualifications & Experience

Previous experience in a repair shop or working with vehicles is advantageous but not required.
Matric (Grade 12) preferred.
On-the-job training will be provided to develop skills and knowledge.
