Job Description

Mthembu Paper Mill is seeking an Accountant to manage financial operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the manufacturing process through accurate cost analysis and reporting.

The successful candidate will handle inventory accounts, prepare financial budgets, monitor variances, and provide data-driven insights to support management decisions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Analysis: Calculate manufacturing costs, including materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods accounts.
  • Financial Planning: Assist in preparing budgets, sales projections, and financial forecasts.
  • Variance Analysis: Investigate differences between actual and standard costs.
  • Product Pricing: Support the sales team with accurate product pricing.
  • Reporting: Prepare financial statements, cost reports, inventory reports, and profitability analyses.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for SMEs.
  • Account Management: Monitor accounts payable/receivable, reconcile ledgers, and ensure timely payments.
  • Internal Controls: Implement and maintain financial controls to protect company assets.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track budget performance and recommend improvements.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure timely tax filings and compliance with regulations.
  • Financial Insights: Analyse data for trends, cost-saving opportunities, and performance improvement.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent.
  • SAIPA or SAICA training experience.

Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SYSPRO) and Microsoft Excel.
