Admin Clerk / Receptionist

Job Purpose

An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified candidate to fill the position of Admin Clerk / Receptionist. This role focuses on handling samples, administrative tasks, and reception duties to support efficient laboratory operations.


Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 qualification (BSc Degree advantageous).

  • Experience: 0-1 year of relevant working experience.

  • Skills:

    • Computer literacy

    • Knowledge of laboratory information systems

    • Understanding of organisational policies and procedures


Key Responsibilities

  • Sample Management:

    • Sort, log, and distribute samples according to standard operating procedures.

    • Ensure correct and prioritized delivery of specimens to the relevant laboratories/sites.

    • Monitor courier progress to track sample delivery and report turnaround times.

  • Administrative Duties:

    • Handle patient queries, complaints, and report deliveries professionally.

    • Manage hospital rounds to collect samples and distribute reports.

    • Prepare and scan patient forms (Oculus system) and resolve incomplete scans.

    • Maintain stock levels and ensure timely delivery to doctors' rooms.

  • Reception Management:

    • Manage the reception area, direct clients, and provide excellent customer service.

    • Receive cash payments and ensure banking follows company procedures.

    • Log incidents, customer complaints, and tasks on the laboratory information management system.

  • Housekeeping:

    • Ensure a clean, organized workspace and prepare equipment according to protocols.
