Frontshop Assistant – Eikestad Mall (Dis-Chem Pharmacies)

Company Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies at Eikestad Mall, Stellenbosch, is looking for a Frontshop Assistant to maintain merchandising standards and support customer service at the point of sale, following Dis-Chem’s policies and procedures.


Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric or Senior Certificate

  • 0 – 6 months retail work experience

Advantageous:

  • 1 year of retail experience

  • Certification in Retail Business Management


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full product ranges are always on shelves and neatly displayed.

  • Check stock for expiry dates and ensure shelves are restocked as needed.

  • Handle out-of-stock queries promptly and follow up with customers.

  • Ensure newly delivered stock is packed in the correct areas.

  • Maintain accurate pricing and report price discrepancies to management.

  • Keep the storeroom neat and organized.

  • Stay updated on new products to assist customers better.

  • Handle merchandise carefully to prevent losses.

  • Process sales, returns, and exchanges, ensuring all payments are accurately handled (cash, card, vouchers, etc.).

  • Assist with back shopping and stock rotation as needed.

  • Report low stock, expired, or damaged items to management.

  • Assist with stock counts and general stocktaking.

  • Ensure cash is dropped in the safe according to SOPs.

  • Maintain customer service standards, assisting in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner.

  • Report customer compliments or complaints to management.

  • Support new and current team members with training when required.

  • Follow Dis-Chem's housekeeping, safety, and uniform policies.


Key Competencies

Essential:

  • Knowledge of retail operations and procedures

  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

  • Time management and ability to work independently

  • Customer service skills

Advantageous:

  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Experience with SAP


Special Conditions of Employment

  • Willing to work retail hours

  • South African citizen

  • Clear criminal and credit record (MIE check)

  • Driver’s license and reliable transport
