Handyman - General Building Maintenance (Fixed-Term Contract)

Role Purpose

The Handyman will be responsible for performing planned, preventive, and emergency maintenance on specified equipment to ensure quality and timeous service delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance tasks according to job cards and service level agreements (SLAs).

  • Investigate, evaluate, and restore malfunctioning equipment.

  • Conduct minor electrical repairs and services on equipment and appliances.

  • Perform office movement tasks, including installation of furniture, shop fitting, door/lock repairs, window repairs, ceiling and carpet tile replacement, and general painting.

  • Carry out minor plumbing repairs and services.

  • Inspect and conduct tier 1 repairs on air-conditioning equipment.

  • Inspect and report on fire and access equipment, including extinguishers, hose reels, hydrants, detectors, and access control systems.

  • Assist Artisans with major repairs and servicing.

  • Provide regular feedback to the Facilities Manager, Service Manager, Building Manager, or Resource Coordinator.


Minimum Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • N3 Technical Certificate (Electrical/Mechanical)

  • Matric (Senior Certificate)

  • Valid SA Driver’s License

  • 3 years’ experience in handyman maintenance tasks

  • Basic training in hand tools, electrical, and mechanical equipment

  • Knowledge of the OHS Act and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
