Minimum Requirements
- Matric or equivalent with Mathematics and Physical Science on higher grade (Grade E) or standard grade (D symbol)
- National Lampsman Certificate
- At least 2 years’ experience as a Lamproom, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role
- Basic understanding of Lamproom equipment and tools
- Computer literate (Microsoft package)
- Medically fit
Job Purpose
Assist in providing quality services and ensuring the safe operation of lamproom equipment and tools for health, safety, and productivity in the mining sector.
Responsibilities
Technical
- Perform day-to-day activities following the prescribed DMR guidelines and the mine's code of practice.
- Provide legal and competent services.
- Ensure effective communication between the lamp room and all relevant stakeholders.
- Oversee and comply with daily administrative tasks.
- Resolve customer complaints and grievances in a timely and professional manner.
- Control and coordinate lamp room operators in their daily tasks.
- Maintain and monitor lamp room equipment.
- Monitor failures and repairs of equipment and report deviations to the relevant technician.
- Ensure effective key control during shifts.
- Keep up-to-date knowledge of internal and external procedures and attend training programs.
- Maintain housekeeping in the area of responsibility.
Support
- Keep the supervisor updated on unresolved issues or potential problems.
- Participate in quality programs across the company.
- Identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Develop a training program for operators, administrators, and junior Lampsmen.
Health and Safety
- Ensure medical and inductions are valid.
- Use personal protective equipment.
- Comply with the company’s Quality Management System, procedures, practices, and policies.
- Ensure all interactions with the community reflect the company as a professional service provider to the mining sector.
