Purpose of Role:
The Picker in the Industrial Automation Division plays a vital role in the order fulfilment process within the warehouse. The primary responsibility is to locate and retrieve items from inventory to accurately and efficiently fulfill customer orders, ensuring smooth and organized warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Storage:
- Place receipted stock in the correct storage locations within the warehouse.
- Ensure stock is stored safely and in compliance with Health & Safety standards.
- Report any damaged or missing stock to the supervisor and stock controller.
- Order Fulfilment:
- Remove damaged stock from the shelf and involve stock control for corrective steps.
- Identify the destination and type of stock orders, including customer orders, replacement orders, intercompany transfers, local or international orders.
- Packaging:
- Package items to prevent damage during storage and transport, ensuring products are presentable.
- Label all loose items according to SOP.
- Documentation:
- Record the quantity and quality of items being picked.
- Report discrepancies to the supervisor and stock controller for resolution.
- Ensure proper handover of stock to the dispatch team with the appropriate signatures and dates.
- Housekeeping:
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area at all times.
- Ensure stock is stored in its correct location.
- Identify and resolve workplace safety hazards to maintain a Health & Safety culture.
- Computer Literacy/Systems:
- Basic proficiency in Windows and MS Office suite.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Matric/NQF 4 level qualification
- Minimum of 2 years' warehousing experience
- 2+ years of related administration experience
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
