Job Purpose:
The Porter is responsible for providing exceptional, personalized luggage and customer service to guests on arrival and throughout their stay at the hotel, ensuring their experience is memorable.

Key Performance Areas:

Prepared Work Environment:

  • Identify issues related to the workstation appearance and functionality of equipment and systems.
  • Check cleanliness of porte cochere areas and vehicles.
  • Review arrival and VIP lists, understanding special requirements.
  • Prepare and distribute welcome/VIP amenities.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections and address any issues.
  • Check fuel levels and ensure vehicles are ready for guest transport.
  • Be familiar with hotel and resort facilities, promotions, and activities.

Transporting Services:

  • Coordinate and park vehicles for visiting guests.
  • Assist with luggage storage in vehicles and unloading at the hotel.
  • Report accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions.
  • Greet guests and assist disabled guests as needed.
  • Safely transport guests to destinations in line with hotel policies.
  • Plan routes, log transport to external destinations, and file documentation.
  • Raise charges for transportation services.

Delivered Luggage Services:

  • Collect and tag guest luggage and deliver it to the front desk.
  • Escort guests to rooms, ensuring luggage is placed properly.
  • Deliver faxes, messages, packages, and flowers to rooms.
  • Assist with long-term luggage storage requests.
  • Update luggage documentation.
  • Transport departing guests' luggage from room to lobby and into transport.

Customer Engagement:

  • Maintain proper decorum at the porte cochere at all times.
  • Provide a warm welcome and interact with guests, answering questions and addressing concerns.
  • Handle customer complaints and requests, escalating when necessary.
  • Escort guests to rooms and promote hotel facilities, rewards programs, and current promotions.
  • Assist with answering the telephone at the concierge desk.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Grade 12 preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License with a PDP.

Experience:

  • Experience in a customer service environment is an advantage.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and team cooperation.
  • Knowledge of hotel products, facilities, and local landmarks.
  • Knowledge of luggage procedures and ability to use GPS devices.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Basic PC skills and knowledge of Opera.
