Receiving Clerk - Industrial Automation

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Receiving Clerk to join our team at the Linbro Park branch. The Receiving Clerk will be responsible for handling deliveries, checking the quality and quantity of items against shipping invoices, and resolving any issues with shipments. This role requires close collaboration with customers and distributors to manage deliveries efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accept and sign for deliveries.
  • Request delivery schedules from purchasing and ensure all deliveries are received in the designated area.
  • Assist in unloading shipments from delivery vehicles.
  • Open boxes and inspect the contents for quality and quantity.
  • Address discrepancies on deliveries and notify Procurement and/or the line manager immediately.
  • Maintain Return Authorization reports and ensure receipted purchase orders are billed daily.
  • Communicate any discrepancies on received goods to the Procurement department.
  • Check goods against suppliers' invoices for accuracy.
  • Ensure receiving area is secure and locked, with no unauthorized access.
  • Organize and maintain inventory and storage areas within the receiving section.
  • Ensure accuracy in shipments and inventory transactions.
  • Cost shipments received by 3:00 PM before the close of business.
  • Clear receiving areas by the end of each business day.
  • Maintain accurate records of all received shipments.
  • Ensure that items with serial numbers are accurately recorded in the MRP system.
  • Capture and cost goods correctly in the system.
  • Ensure proper documentation is provided when goods leave the receiving area.
  • Provide excellent customer service, handling questions and complaints professionally.
  • Submit supplier invoices to the accounts department daily and ensure they are linked correctly to communication/shipping documents.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
  • Ensure only warehouse staff are allowed in the warehouse, with no unauthorized entry.
  • Report defects or accidents immediately.
  • Ensure goods are packed away and orders are processed correctly by the close of business.

Normal Working Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 08:00 AM - 05:00 PM
  • Friday: 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM

Requirements:

  • Minimum of Matric or NQF 4 equivalent
  • At least 3 years of previous experience in a similar role in a warehousing environment
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be physically fit to move around the warehouse and handle stock efficiently
