Purpose of the Job
The SHE Occupational Safety Practitioner will implement health and safety programmes, conduct inspections and risk assessments, and support the development of a safe workplace environment.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Execution
-
Develop and execute shutdown and issue-based safety plans.

Ensure all activities align with the SHE game plan focus areas.
Risk Assessment & Management
-
Identify occupational safety hazards and risks.
-
Implement preventive and corrective safety controls.
-
Conduct workplace risk assessments (baseline, continuous, and issue-based).
-
Investigate incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and recommend corrective measures.
-
Conduct safety audits (e.g., logbook, lock-out, legal appointment, and insurance audits).
-
Participate in risk-based assurance audits with a focus on group and critical controls.
-
Monitor incident and injury trends, recommending mitigation strategies.
Safety Awareness & Communication
-
Develop and communicate safety awareness materials.

Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and stand-downs.

Coach operations staff on workplace safety best practices.
Minimum Requirements
Education
-
Grade 12 / Matric
-
National Diploma / B-Tech in Safety Management (Advantageous)
Experience
-
3+ years of relevant work experience in safety management.
